Apple has announced the upcoming release of Apple Intelligence, its new AI-driven feature set. However, access to these capabilities will be limited by six key requirements:
1. Compatible Device
- iPhone: Any iPhone 16-series model or 15 Pro/Pro Max
- iPad: Models with M1, M2, or M4 chip
- Mac: Models with M1 chip or later
2. Software Update
Users will need to install iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, or macOS Sequoia 15.1, expected to be released later in October.
3. Waitlist Approval
After installing the update, users must join and be approved from a waitlist in the Settings app.
4. Sufficient Storage
iPhones require at least 4GB of free storage to enable AI features. Requirements for iPad and Mac are not yet specified.
5. Language Setting
Devices must be set to US English at launch. Support for other English variants is expected in December, with more languages coming in 2025.
6. Geographic Restrictions
Initially, Apple Intelligence will not be available in the EU or China, with the possible exception of Mac users in the EU.
Users meeting all these criteria can expect to access Apple Intelligence features soon, with public beta testing already available for those willing to try potentially buggy software.
