Million, the optimizing compiler for React, has released version 3 after months of development. This significant update aims to solve issues present in previous versions and improve overall performance and stability.
Key Improvements in Million 3:
- New hydration system with O(d) time complexity, where d is the number of dynamic nodes
- Improved compiler stability with better support for TypeScript, multiple returns, and nested React components
- Ongoing work to remove <slot> elements, reducing memory overhead and styling issues
- Enhanced documentation with multi-language support and reorganized content
The upgrade process is seamless, with existing 2.x.x code compatible with 3.x.x. Users can simply run the upgrade command to update their installations.
Future Plans:
- Release of developer tools to simplify debugging, fixing, and maintaining web performance
- Focus on making existing tools faster and easier to use
- Expansion beyond React to broader frontend, backend, and other platforms
Million’s mission is to enable developers to deliver fast software effortlessly across various systems and platforms. The team is actively seeking talented frontend and pl/ml engineers to join their efforts in the Bay Area.
This release marks a significant step forward in Million’s goal to revolutionize software performance and simplify the development process for React applications.
