The visitors arriving from AI systems are not just browsing. According to Adobe research, AI-referred traffic drives 83% more revenue per visit than non-AI traffic and converts at a rate 90% higher than the rest of your audience.
The Readability Gap
Adobe also introduced a Citation Readability Score as part of the research. The average U.S. retail homepage scored 63%, meaning more than a third of the content on a typical retail site is not readily understandable or citable by AI systems.
That gap matters because AI assistants can only recommend or cite pages they can actually parse. If your product pages, landing pages, or category descriptions fall below that threshold, you are invisible to the referral channel that converts best.
The Operator Takeaway
This is an early signal, not a definitive playbook. Adobe’s data gives marketers a concrete reason to audit two things:
- Which pages your AI-referred visitors actually land on
- What those visitors do after they arrive
If the high-converting segment is coming from AI but landing on pages your site’s own readability score flags as hard to parse, that is a fixable mismatch. Start with your highest-traffic product and landing pages before the gap widens.
