AI-assisted development is moving fast enough that it broke Microsoft’s extension review pipeline. The company recently acknowledged the pressure AI-accelerated development is putting on how it vets submissions to the Edge Add-ons store.

Microsoft overhauled its review process to keep up with the increased volume and pace of extensions being built with AI tools. The core change is a shift toward automated quality checks rather than purely manual review. If an extension clears enough of those automated checks, it earns a Featured badge on the Edge Add-ons site.
