ChatGPT gets product carousels and AppsFlyer attribution

OpenAI is making a real push for performance ad budgets. The company is adding product carousels to ChatGPT ads and has partnered with AppsFlyer to connect those ads to app installs, in-app purchases, and subscriptions, according to Adweek.

What Changed

Two capabilities are now in play. First, product carousels built from merchant catalogs give advertisers a shoppable format inside ChatGPT. Grubhub is among the early partners. Second, the AppsFlyer integration adds conversion measurement, so marketers can actually attribute outcomes to their ChatGPT spend rather than relying on last-click proxies or gut feel.

Why It Matters for Operators

Performance budgets follow measurement. Without attribution, ChatGPT ads were an experimental line item at best. With AppsFlyer in the loop, a mobile app business can now tie a ChatGPT ad to an install or a subscription the same way it would a Google UAC or Meta app campaign. That changes the conversation from “let’s test this” to “let’s scale what works.”

Product carousels lower the friction for e-commerce operators who already maintain structured product feeds. If your catalog is already formatted for Google Shopping or Meta Advantage+, the lift to appear in a ChatGPT carousel should be minimal once the format is widely available.

The two additions together (shoppable format plus conversion measurement) are the minimum viable stack any ad platform needs to compete seriously for direct response dollars. OpenAI now has both.
