Meta Pocket turns your phone prompt into a playable game for free

Meta launched a free app called Pocket, available on both iOS and Android, that turns a plain text description into a playable mobile game. No C++, no C#, no game engine knowledge required.

How It Works

You type what you want, the app generates a playable game in roughly 15 seconds. That’s vibe coding in its most stripped down form: describe the concept, skip the syntax.

One reviewer built three games in a single session. A medieval unicorn slasher took a few seconds to generate. A Bust-A-Move style bubble puzzle (known as Puzzle Bobble in Japan) came together in about 15 seconds and held attention for 45 minutes. A third game, a trampoline jumping survival game inspired by Jetpack Joyride, ended up being the most mechanically interesting of the three, with three distinct trampoline types that each behaved differently.

What’s Inside the App

Beyond building your own games, Pocket includes a Discover section where you can browse and play games made by other users. The home screen also surfaces a new community game each time you open the app after a gap.

Five Prompts Worth Stealing

The same reviewer used ChatGPT to generate game concepts for Pocket. Here are five prompts from that session:

  • Flappy Bird-style: A tiny UFO flying through an alien city, tap to rise, release to fall, with obstacles, a score counter, high-score tracking, and sound effects.
  • Angry office printer: Defeat an evil printer that jams, spits paper, launches ink cartridges, and summons error messages, with progressively more ridiculous boss behavior.
  • Don’t press the button: A giant red button labeled DO NOT PRESS. Every press triggers a different absurd outcome, with at least 20 variations tracked.
  • Choose-your-own-adventure RPG: A visual RPG with health, inventory, money, and reputation stats, at least 10 endings, and some endings locked behind specific choice combinations.
  • Let Pocket decide: Ask the app to invent its own arcade concept, keep controls simple, make it playable within 30 seconds, then add three mechanics that increase replayability without adding complexity.

Pricing

Pocket is free on both platforms.
