ChatGPT ads may replace landing pages with AI agents

OpenAI appears to be testing an ad format that cuts the landing page out of the equation entirely.

What the Experiment Looks Like

Instead of sending a user to a brand website after clicking an ad, the new format opens a business-specific ChatGPT conversation. That agent is equipped to answer questions, surface products, and capture leads, all within the ChatGPT interface.

The Operator Implication

If this format ships broadly, the click stops being a handoff. The entire consideration and conversion process happens inside ChatGPT, with the business-configured agent acting as the destination. For advertisers, that changes what “the page” even means. For solo operators and small teams running paid acquisition, it raises a practical question: do you control the agent experience the same way you control a landing page?

No rollout date or pricing details have been disclosed. This is an experiment, not a launched product. Worth watching if you run any paid ads.
