Cognition AI just closed a $2 billion funding round that puts its valuation at $48 billion, up from $26 billion as recently as May. That is an 85 percent jump in valuation in roughly four months.

The revenue growth backs up the number. According to Bloomberg, Cognition’s run-rate revenue grew from $492 million in May to approximately $900 million now. That is nearly a doubling of annualized revenue in the same window.

Why It Matters

Cognition builds AI coding tools, competing in one of the most crowded and well-funded corners of the AI market. A $48 billion valuation puts it in rarefied company for a private startup, and the revenue trajectory suggests the market for AI-assisted software development is not slowing down.

For indie hackers and solo operators, the signal here is straightforward: the dollars flowing into AI coding tools reflect genuine usage at scale, not just hype. Whatever your stack, these tools are getting better faster because the economics support it.
