Egnyte adds AI agents, workflow builder, and bulk extraction

Egnyte just shipped three new capabilities aimed at teams running document-heavy, compliance-sensitive workflows: Bulk Extraction, Agent Builder, and Workflow Builder. The pitch is that all three operate inside Egnyte’s existing permission model, so there is no separate governance layer to bolt on.

What Each Tool Does

  • Bulk Extraction: Applies consistent metadata tags across large volumes of files and folders automatically, covering single-document, multi-document, and bulk extraction. The goal is turning unstructured content into structured, searchable data without moving files or requiring manual tagging.
  • Agent Builder: A natural-language tool that lets teams build custom AI agents without developer help. Agents can be created from scratch or pulled from the Egnyte Agent Marketplace. Every agent action is auditable and stays within the existing permission model.
  • Workflow Builder: A no-code, visual builder for automating document-intensive processes common in regulated industries, from SOP reviews to compliance sign-offs. It supports conditional logic, agent hooks, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.

The Compliance Angle

Egnyte also updated its Regulation-to-Audit framework, which maps regulatory compliance to controls and audit readiness through four components: Sensitive Content Protection, Compliance Center, Compliance Agent, and Configuration Agent. Continuous monitoring provides real-time audit logs and unusual access detection.

A redesigned AI Workspace brings the AI Assistant, agents, and Agent Marketplace into one interface. Document Creation is now integrated into that workspace, letting teams draft and edit content grounded in their governed data. Egnyte also notes an MCP server is part of the connector suite.

Who This Is For

This is squarely aimed at enterprise and mid-market teams in regulated industries, think legal, healthcare, financial services, where audit readiness and data access controls are non-negotiable. Smaller operators without compliance overhead will likely find the feature set heavier than they need. Pricing was not disclosed in the announcement.
