Nick Saraev, who runs AI growth agency LeftClick, ran a head-to-head between GPT-4.1 Terra and Claude Opus 4 across five real vibe coding builds. Same prompt, same tools, max effort on both sides.
What He Tested
The five builds included Stormwatch, The Long Night, a Minecraft-style project, Neon Drift, and a Meridian landing page. Saraev tracked build time, token usage, and output quality across all five.
What the Numbers Show
Terra came in roughly twice as fast as Opus and at a fraction of the cost. On benchmarks covering Agents’ Last Exam scores versus cost, vision, and factual error rate, Terra holds a clear efficiency edge.
Opus still wins on high-end design quality and 3D output. If visual fidelity is the priority, Saraev’s tests suggest Opus is still the stronger pick.
The Operator Takeaway
For most vibe coding tasks where speed and cost matter more than polish, Terra looks like the default choice. For client-facing work or anything where design quality is the deliverable, Opus still earns its higher cost. The split use case is now clear enough to make a deliberate choice rather than defaulting to one model for everything.
