Island adds enterprise governance to vibe-coded apps
Vibe coding has made every knowledge worker a potential app builder. The problem IT teams are now sitting with: those apps get shared over Slack and email, carry no enterprise controls, and often touch customer data before anyone in security knows they exist.
Island is trying to close that gap with a new product called Enterprise Vibe Publishing, launched August 3, 2026.
What It Does
Enterprise Vibe Publishing gives organizations a centralized app library where employees submit, review, and publish AI-built internal tools. Admins review each app, apply policies, and approve it. Once published, coworkers find it in a shared library rather than hunting through chat history for a link someone sent three weeks ago.
The governance layer attaches automatically at publish time. According to Island, no new configurations or integrations are required. Controls that inherit include:
- Data loss prevention and clipboard controls on all activity inside a published app
- Island Private Access, which routes an app to a single internal resource without broad network exposure
- Digital Employee Experience monitoring, so admins can see who opens an app, how often, how fast it loads, and when a one-off tool has quietly become critical infrastructure
- A full audit trail for regulatory compliance
The Problem It Is Solving
Gartner predicts that by 2028, 40% of new enterprise production software will be built with vibe coding tools. The same research notes that 90% of enterprise software engineers will use AI code assistants by then, up from under 14% in early 2024.
That volume breaks traditional app review. A process designed to clear a handful of new tools per quarter cannot handle what one team can ship in a month. When reviews stall, people route around them. Apps land in environments nobody has inspected, handling data nobody authorized.
Island Security Research has also identified hundreds of malicious MCP servers, which represents a concrete attack surface for employee-built apps that connect to external tools without review.

Island Uses It Internally
Island publishes its own AI Usage Dashboard through Enterprise Vibe Publishing. The tool helps employees track AI usage and cost across platforms including Claude and Cursor. It is a reasonable signal that the product is at least past the internal dogfooding stage.
Island is backed by Coatue Management, Cyberstarts, Insight Partners, and Sequoia Capital. No pricing was disclosed in the announcement.
