Ivalua launches IVA Studio: one AI agent for full procurement

Ivalua has shipped IVA Studio, an AI agent system built for procurement and supply chain teams. The core of it is a single agent, called IVA, that runs across the company’s full source-to-pay platform rather than sitting in a silo.

What It Does

IVA handles sourcing, invoicing, and supplier risk management through one interface. For more complex tasks, it can spin up and coordinate temporary sub-agents, then disband them when the work is done.

A practical example from Ivalua: a category manager can ask the system to pull an expiring contract, compare it against other agreements, flag stronger suppliers, draft an RFx, and launch the sourcing event, all in a single exchange. In accounts payable, IVA can cross-check invoices against prices, purchase orders, and contract terms stored in documents.

The Governance Angle

Every action IVA takes is tied to the permissions of the person using it. It cannot exceed those limits, even when running autonomously inside a workflow. Every action is logged in an audit trail. For procurement teams operating under tight compliance requirements, that design matters more than the AI capabilities themselves.

Skills Framework and Customization

IVA Studio uses a skills framework. Teams can encode sourcing methods, negotiation tactics, and compliance rules as reusable skills the agent draws on. The idea is that institutional know-how stops living in individual heads and becomes part of the system new employees can access from the start.

The system supports Model Context Protocol for external integrations and is model-agnostic. Customers can use Ivalua-provided models or bring their own. IVA also retains memory of past interactions and, according to Ivalua, improves over time.

The Operator Takeaway

Ivalua’s pitch is that IVA works from day one without the configuration overhead that other agent platforms require, because it treats the Ivalua platform itself as its toolset and knowledge base. Whether that holds up in practice depends on how deeply a company’s procurement workflows are already inside Ivalua’s stack. The company reports working with more than 500 brands through its spend and supplier management platform.
