Jasper hires a CFO with a $1B M&A record as it scales enterprise AI

Jasper, the marketing agents platform used by nearly 20% of the Fortune 500, announced two executive appointments on August 3. Tom Newton was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer and Lauren Newman was hired as Chief Financial Officer.

The CFO hire is the more significant signal

Newman brings close to 20 years of finance and operations experience. Most recently she was CFO at Aircall, the cloud communications platform, where she led global finance through a period of rapid revenue growth. Before that, she was CFO at Acclara, a healthcare revenue cycle company, where she managed the acquisition and integration of three businesses and oversaw the financial, legal, and compliance workstreams behind Acclara’s nearly $1 billion sale to R1 RCM in 2024.

Earlier in her career, Newman spent seven years at Microsoft, finishing as Worldwide Controller for its $4.5 billion Office Consumer business. For a company serving enterprise customers like Prudential and Cushman & Wakefield, that background carries direct weight.

Newton’s internal promotion avoids disruption

Newton joined Jasper as VP of Marketing in 2024 and has prior B2B software experience at Toast, Knowde, Zendesk, and Intercom. As CMO, he will own brand, demand generation, product marketing, and go-to-market strategy. Promoting from within keeps product-market alignment intact at a moment when Jasper is pushing to convert its enterprise customer base into durable recurring revenue.

The product shift driving both hires

Jasper recently launched its GEO Agent, an autonomous tool that monitors how brands appear in AI-generated search results and executes governed, on-brand responses to close visibility gaps. The company describes it as the first in a new class of role-specific agents, each targeting a distinct marketing function rather than acting as a general-purpose assistant. CEO Timothy Young framed both appointments around the transition from AI experimentation to operationalization.

Newman’s M&A background suggests Jasper may be positioning for significant corporate activity. Enterprise buyers evaluating Jasper as a long-term vendor should factor potential ownership changes into that decision.
