Logitech MX Keypad: Stream Deck rival for devs at $99
Logitech just released the MX Keypad at $99, a standalone version of the 3×3 keypad that previously shipped only as part of the $200-range MX Creative Console bundle. Drop the dialpad, drop the price, target developers.
️ What It Is
The hardware is identical to the keypad half of the MX Creative Console: the same keys, kickstand, and USB-C connection. The dialpad is gone. According to the reviewer who has used the Creative Console for months, that’s a reasonable tradeoff for development work since dialpads suit timeline-based creative tasks more than coding workflows.
The Automation Layer
The keypad runs on Logi Options+, which supports Smart Actions built from keyboard shortcuts and macros. There’s also a Smart Actions marketplace with app-specific plugins and a Logi Actions API for developers who want to build their own integrations with full device access. Practical use cases include launching agents, monitoring agent activity via dynamically updated keys, triggering saved prompts, and activating voice input.
The GitHub Copilot Deal
Logitech is partnering with GitHub Copilot for the launch. A Copilot plugin is available that maps Copilot controls directly to the keypad’s keys. New Logitech customers also get three months of GitHub Copilot Pro+ for free.
