Tuya AI Coding lets non-coders build IoT apps from a prompt

Tuya Smart (NYSE: TUYA) launched Tuya AI Coding on August 5, 2026, a no-code platform that takes a plain text description and produces a deployable, AI-powered application, no developer required.

What It Does

Users describe what they want in natural language. The platform generates a complete application including backend architecture: databases, API gateways, user authentication, and device management. It also connects directly to Tuya’s cloud infrastructure, which spans more than 200 countries and regions.

The differentiator over generic AI app builders is hardware reach. Tuya AI Coding has native support for more than 100,000 SKUs in Tuya’s IoT hardware ecosystem, so apps can interact with real smart devices out of the box.

Core Features

  • Real-time preview and conversational iteration: Refine the app mid-generation using natural language commands like “make the button larger” or “add dark mode.”
  • Template library: Vertical use case templates for faster starts.
  • Cross-platform output: Apps work across PCs, smartphones, and tablets automatically.
  • One-click deployment: Deploy to the cloud and share directly to social media platforms.
  • Device and data services: Device management, data analytics, and weather information services can be added flexibly.

Who It Targets

Tuya positions the platform for designers, product managers, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and students, specifically people without a technical background who want to validate ideas without hiring engineers. The company claims the platform compresses development cycles that traditionally took months down to minutes, and reduces the technical barrier by 90 percent.

Context

Gartner named AI-native application development platforms one of its top strategic technology trends for 2026 and predicted that 75 percent of new applications worldwide will be built using low-code approaches by year end. A Frost and Sullivan report from July noted that platforms in this space are shifting from app generation to full business delivery, with competition now covering deployment, launch, operations, and continuous iteration.

As of March 31, 2026, Tuya’s AI Developer Platform had over 1,970,000 registered developers across more than 200 countries. The platform is live now at coding.tuya.ai.
