Slack Code brings AI coding agents into dedicated project channels

Slack just carved out a dedicated space for AI-assisted development work. The company launched Slack Code, a new channel type built specifically for teams collaborating with AI coding agents on project work.

What Slack Code Is

Slack Code gives teams project-specific channels where AI coding agents participate as active collaborators rather than bots you ping in a sidebar. Slack’s framing is that agents work “like teammates” inside these channels. The feature is available across all Slack plans, not gated behind an enterprise tier.

The Operator Takeaway

If your team already uses Slack and you’re running AI coding agents in your workflow, this removes one layer of context-switching. Instead of bouncing between your IDE, an agent interface, and a general Slack channel, the work conversation lives in one place scoped to the project. Whether that friction reduction is meaningful depends entirely on how your team already works.
