StackAdapt becomes a ChatGPT ads partner for programmatic buyers

OpenAI is opening ChatGPT to advertising, and Toronto-based StackAdapt has landed a spot as a technology partner in the early pilot.

What StackAdapt is offering

Through the partnership, StackAdapt advertisers can now run ads inside ChatGPT. The positioning is around intent: users who are actively comparing options and making decisions, rather than passively scrolling. StackAdapt describes itself as an AI advertising and orchestration platform.

The setup is framed as a test and learn environment. Advertisers get access to the pilot, run campaigns, and feed results back as the format matures. No pricing or ad unit specifics were disclosed in the announcement.

The operator angle

If you run paid acquisition for a product or service, this is worth watching. ChatGPT is already part of the research and buying process for a lot of consumers. Being present at that moment, when someone is actively asking questions before a purchase, is a different placement than a banner or a pre-roll. Whether the early CPMs will be efficient is unknown, but the inventory position is interesting.

StackAdapt is describing this as early-stage. That usually means lower competition and higher tolerance for experimentation, which historically is when direct response advertisers see the best returns on new channels.
